On private kosher supervision

שו”תCategory: HalachaOn private kosher supervision
asked 9 years ago

Hello,
What is the rabbi’s opinion on the social kashrut system, or as it is called, “private supervision”?
If the rabbi is not familiar with it – here is a link
thanks!
PS: I understand that you have already explained your view of the Chief Rabbinate in the past, so I didn’t want to bother you again with a question about it, but could you direct me to places where you generally addressed this issue?

I didn’t know about the matter, but I’m always in favor of breaking up the monopoly of the Chief Rabbinate. I don’t always identify with the desire for populism (religious-secular relations, etc.), and in my opinion, kosher considerations shouldn’t take such considerations into account. I’m in favor of breaking up and closing them down because they are corrupt, unnecessary, and harmful, and not because of religious-secular relations.
Of course, to eat somewhere, you have to make sure that there is indeed good supervision. The owners of the places are not really loyal (although AA is loyal to the prohibitions) because they have a conflict of interest.
Regarding the Chief Rabbinate, I assume you can search the website and find relevant materials.
