On the infinite power of God

שו”תCategory: faithOn the infinite power of God
asked 8 years ago

I was raised on the belief that God is omnipotent in His own right, and He is the one who invented logic and physiology and space and time and everything that is limited and everything that exists both theoretical and real, and therefore there is a barrier between the human perception that is part of the whole of creation and invented reality and what really is “God is true,” as Maimonides wrote in Yesodei HaTorah 11, and no human mind can grasp what God truly is and what His reality is (for example, of course God has no beginning and no end, otherwise He would be like the creatures themselves, and this is an example of why no human mind can contain something that has no beginning or end).
A book was recently published http://www.bhol.co.il/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=3134493&forum_id=1364
I’m a little confused about this, what does the rabbi think about this?

thanks

Hello Chen. First, don’t accept everything you’re raised on. A person needs to examine themselves and form their own position. Second, even if He is above logic (what is that anyway? This sentence has no meaning), when you speak of Him, the speech is within the framework of logic. Therefore, you must speak subject to it, even when you speak of Him. Therefore, these statements, in addition to the fact that they have no meaning, you certainly cannot make use of them. Several rishonim have already written that God is subject to logic (Rashba in the response to Ch. 4 Si’ Rald, and its source is clear from Rambam in Moreh and more). And in the aforementioned book, he elaborated on this well. I have already explained several times on the site why there is no “subordination” to anything here, and this does not contradict its full potential. See for example here:
כפיפות של הקב"ה לחוקי הלוגיקה
