You are confusing a jurisprudential custom with a mere custom. Each example should be discussed separately. When there is a jurisprudential custom, there is no problem changing it when one thinks differently. A custom is intended for a situation where I do not know how to rule. If I do, the custom has no meaning.

Absolutely not. Where did you get that from? I am against engineering from above. It contradicts the essence of custom. Custom develops in its own dynamics from below and does not need any chief rabbi to engineer it.
