Personality building

Peace and blessings.
I am a yeshiva student and I have noticed that in general when the rabbis talk about the previous Rosh Yeshiva (Zt\”l of course) they usually talk about his greatness as a person and the special personality he had and things like that and less about his being a first-rate scholar (even though he was one of the giants in the field of scholarship). And this is a phenomenon that repeats itself throughout the religious world in relation to rabbinical students and Rosh Yeshiva heads. And it makes me think about how I actually work on this area? How can I grow as a person? Unlike learning, which has some relatively paved path that a person has to go through in order to grow, the whole area of personality building is a bit unclear to me. I would love to hear your opinion on the matter and how one should work (I would also appreciate practical advice) on these matters.

There is literature that deals with these issues. I have refrained from giving general advice in this area. I think the main thing is that this will be important to you and that you will think about it and give yourself an account (if you can in front of a friend who will reflect on your situation for you). You will take on tasks and test (in front of him) whether you have met them.
