Prayer without intention
Hello Rabbi Michael.
Which parts of the prayer are not obligatory and can I read and study other books in them? It is very easy to lose yourself in prayer, especially in the repetition of the Shachat.
Thanks in advance!
Most of the verses of Zimra, the recitation of the Shatz. When there are piyyutim – then of course. Between the elders and the elders in the reading of the Torah (and perhaps through discussion it can be shown that even within it, etc.).
Hello Rabbi, I usually complete two readings and one translation during Torah reading, which is about the reading itself... is that okay?
For Noam: In the Shulchan Aruch, section 5, it says that it is permitted.
Indeed, it is in the Shul there.
Although in our text there they stated that the first ones shared this. Therefore, some interpreted that the meaning was between the elder and the younger (but in the author's language it does not mean that, of course). And there is much to be said about this. The reasoning given there is that there should be ten who hear from the reader, but this should be relaxed if there are ten besides him. Others wrote that everyone should hear from the reader, but this too should be discussed, because if reading is obligatory on the public, then it is enough that there are ten others. And perhaps from the perspective of the categorical imperative, everyone should be obligated (after all, we must do what we would like to be a general law). And see my article here on the categorical imperative:

And there is also a distinction between reading on Shabbat, which is a regulation of Moses, and reading on Mondays and Thursdays, which is a regulation of Ezra. And with this, everything written in the book of Isaiah must be reconciled. There is a S”B who seemingly contradicts his words here in S’ Serpa.
After all, there is definitely a point in not doing so except between men and women, but it is difficult to actually prohibit it.
