Is it permissible to study for a test [in sacred subjects] on Shabbat for a weekday?

It is acceptable not to (both from the perspective of preparing from Shabbat to Shabbat and from the perspective of those who perform Shabbat rituals). Although, if it interests you on its own, I think there is room for permission.
I have a rabbinical exam and I have to come back again and again, it's important.
What is the side to allow?
