Questions about prophecy
I asked in the past if it is possible that according to Tos (Yevamot 5) a prophet does not have the possibility of knowing the future. The rabbi replied that Tosafot and Shelah do indeed say so. So, does prophecy not tell anything about the future? How does the Torah say, “If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord and the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing that the Lord has not spoken in the name of the Lord, the word of the prophet shall not go back from him”? Besides, many prophecies describe things that will happen with complete certainty.
I also asked whether it is possible that some of the prophecies will not come true, such as the prophecies that describe the Messiah as poor and riding a donkey and others that describe him as riding on clouds, and the excuse of the coward is that these are two possible paths. So, after the Messiah comes and one of these paths is fulfilled – the second prophecy turns out to be untrue, meaning it is not a prophecy that will come true? Are the prophecies just an option?
Thank you very much.

At the stage when the prophet is being tested, God will probably ensure that his prophecies come true. Prophecies made about the future always reek of confidence, but this is not necessarily true.
Regarding the paths of redemption, I explained that it is indeed possible that there are two possibilities, only one of which will be realized. That does not mean that the second was not real. She said that if they were successful, there would be a reward, but they were not successful. See the previous paragraph.

Even in the Torah, God Himself does not know the future and He performs experiments. How would the prophet know? The Torah explains to the foolish man a simple way to catch charlatans.
Prophecy in the way that many fools perceive it is simply a synonym for witchcraft, fortune-telling, and other nonsense that fools believe in and that the Torah forbids.
