Rabbinate and Bastards

Have a good week.
In one of the last columns, I saw that the rabbi wrote in response to one of the questions that the rabbinate produces far more bastards than the situation was in Iluliya. Can the rabbi explain why? It is ostensibly clear that without the rabbinate’s records, many would marry in a religious Kiddushin, and many would not divorce religiously.

Absolutely not. I’m not talking about a complete waiver of regulation. On the contrary, I demand that those who contact me register even if they were married outside the Rabbinate (but the Rabbinate is unwilling to register them, against the law and with various lies). My argument is that there should be regulation of marriages like there is in every legal system in the world. You can register at the municipality or in court, and anyone who does so as a DMY will be registered as having done so. Because of the scandalous conduct of the Rabbinate, which is a monopoly and not just a regulator, many who want to marry according to the Jewish law do so neither through the Rabbinate nor do they register anywhere. This creates a very difficult problem in the area of personal status. If the Rabbinate were only a regulatory body that did not impose its nonsense on people as the Rabbinate does today, then those who want to marry according to the Jewish law would do so and register and that’s it. Those who do not want to marry according to the Jewish law would not do so either way. Closing the Rabbinate would be a complete profit. And what is most absurd is that they claim that their actions are intended to save personal status in Israel. Their existence is what destroys it.
