Rabbinic exams

שו”תCategory: HalachaRabbinic exams

I am debating whether to study for the rabbinical exams in the current situation today, where the emphasis is on memorizing and remembering the myriad details that have been created over the generations and not on the essence and meta-principles that are found mainly in the Gemara.
Thank you very much.

If you are studying for the sake of studying and don’t need the certificate, I see no reason to study for the rabbinate exams. Only if for some reason it is the study that speaks to you.

As someone who studied for years in a yeshiva with diligence,
and also obtained a rabbinical certificate –
I must say that there is no comparison! (For the benefit of the rabbinate)
In terms of commitment, perseverance, attention to detail, not making assumptions about yourself (for fear of failing the test),
and most importantly… the knowledge and satisfaction with which you leave.
I must say this!
From studying with diligence around discussions in a sometimes amorphous and unfenced manner - you don't always come out ”with something in hand”
Compared to a mandatory test on dozens of marks, with a lot of memorization.

You just still have the most common method of study in the world, from school to university, in the form of.. study, repetition, test.

This is the way!
