Reading the Quran
Hello Rabbi
Is it permissible to read the Quran?
I know the permissions to understand and instruct and know what you will answer, but I am not a teacher and I also have no one to answer to, no one has ever tried to convert me to Islam. But it still bothers me that many times all sorts of things are attributed to Islam, such as “Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran” and “Muhammad said that Jews should be respected,” and I only feed on what is said and I would be happy to know exactly what is written and not rely on foreign sources.
What do you think? And is there a difference between the Quran and the New Testament in this matter?
Thanks in advance.

I have the New Testament at home, I bought it out of historical interest, but right now there's a long line of books waiting for me, and it's just lying around. Is there a problem with just keeping it at home like that?
If there's no problem reading it, why would there be a problem keeping it at home? Maybe you'll come read it? 🙂
And you shall not bring an abomination into your house.
No?
I don't remember a prohibition on bringing it into the house. Especially since it's not a book of Ezra's, but at most a book that contains such content. And of course, as I wrote, if it's permissible to read it, it's certainly permissible to bring it into the house.
Strength.
According to the majority of Orthodox rabbis and the great men of the generation, this is forbidden. It has even been said that some in Islam do consider it a sin.
