Reality shows

Most television viewers in Israel watch reality shows like The Millionaire’s Race and The Big Bang Theory, etc. Programs that are empty of any ethical content, or rather the opposite. And I often wonder what makes people who are usually educational and ethical (from my acquaintance with the people around me) watch these things and also expose their children to them? How is it that the entire mainstream public in the State of Israel is informed and enthusiastically stirs this ethical sewage? I simply cannot digest the explanation that “the masses ultimately want bread and entertainment.” That may have been true in Rome, but here I see people around me who are not like that in other areas of life. What is going on here? I would love an answer that will sit on my heart.
