Regarding legumes

שו”תCategory: HalachaRegarding legumes
asked 8 years ago

Greetings to the great genius.
I read the rabbi’s column on legumes, and I was almost convinced, but I was concerned that the next step would be to loosen the strictures of seven clean days, and I had a hard time with that.

Why don’t we say hello here before we start talking?! The severity of the clean seven is certainly worth considering. But there is no necessary connection to the question of legumes. On the subject of legumes, there has been a change from their days to the present, and its origin is a concern, not a regulation, and in my opinion, not even a custom. On the other hand, the clean seven is a custom from the Gemara’s dharma (and appears there as a settled halakhic ruling), and the reality has not changed substantially from their days to the present. Hadrat Gaoni asked me to convey his greetings to Mr. and said that the messenger is carrying out his mission.

I'm not sure if I offended the rabbi, God forbid, I greeted him early, maybe that wasn't enough.
I appreciate the rabbi and God forbid I didn't want to offend, maybe I didn't phrase the question well, I thought it was a message to the messenger personally.
Well, in any case, sorry if I offended, I'm not sure I understood the severity in the reply.
When I wrote Hadrat Gaonu, I meant it after I also read one of the rabbi's books.

Apparently his honor is new here, of course it's a joke 🙂

I have now sent a clarification by email, and I will repeat it here:

Hello Ari”K.
Hello to Abba Bar Abba… You have attributed intentions to me that I do not have. I was simply joking about the amusing nickname you gave me (Hadrat Gaoni). I was not offended at all, but rather amused. That is why I also sent you greetings in his name, since I see no connection between this nickname and me. That is why I also began by asking why they do not say hello (because you said hello to Hadrath Gaoni, whom I do not know, and not to me).
To the point, where did you see any assertiveness in my words?! Your question was perfectly fine and completely on point, and I also answered it completely to the point.
In conclusion, everything is excellent and there is neither insult nor assertiveness here, but simply jokes that were probably not understood. There is nothing to forgive. On the contrary, I hope you forgive me for my jokes. I cannot help myself in such cases.
