Reliability of tradition

Hello, Your Honor. In terms of the reliability of a tradition, there is no difference between the story of the Exodus from Egypt and any other historical story. But why even consider an ancient tradition, and even one without proof, as reliable? (Any story, even historical) What power do the transmitters of tradition have to make us believe that we were millions of people who experienced revelation, etc.?
