Should I donate my right or left kidney?

שו”תCategory: HalachaShould I donate my right or left kidney?
asked 6 years ago

Yesterday we learned on Daf Yomi:
“Our rabbis taught: There are two kidneys in a person: one that advises him for good and one that advises him for evil; and it is clear that good is on his right and evil is on his left, as it is written ( Ecclesiastes 10:2 ), A wise heart is on his right, and a fool’s heart is on his left.”
The rabbi argued in a class called Rabbi Zilberstein that when a person wants to donate a kidney, the doctors should be asked to remove the left one, so that the “good” one remains.
What do you think?
And is it fair to give both “bad kidneys”?

My opinion is that drawing conclusions from a legend is a mistake. A. Because it is not certain that this is what it really means. B. Even if it is, it is not at all certain that it is right. (How do they know?)

Why not do the mitzvah on the right, which is the first of the mitzvahs?

If the two options are the same, this consideration has a place.
