Source according to the Rabbi

I heard a conversation from a rabbi who brought the name of Magen Avraham so that they would listen to his words: It is possible to hang on to a great rabbi even though it is not true…what is the source?
According to this, is it correct to bring up biased studies in a reinforcement conversation?

See C. Keno. It has sources in the Gemara, of course.
See the explanations to the Maga at the end of column 21, and from there also the answer to your question.

Perhaps the source cited by Rabbi Avraham is actually a fragmented text (after all, he wrote the Maga)?

I guess it's not for nothing that the nickname here is Shalom. This is the well-known joke of R’ Shalom (Shevdron)

The origin of the Magha had already been determined before him by Ramdal, Duq, Dal, and Acmal.
