Suicide and euthanasia of a terminally ill patient
Hello Rabbi, my mother is already dying. The doctor told her that the cancer was stage 4 and asked her if she wanted to be put to sleep, and she insisted that she did. I don’t know if I have any influence on the decision at all. Should I say anything?
Maybe I can convince my mother to decide differently.

In my opinion, I shouldn’t say anything. There are opinions that in cases of severe pain, it is even permissible to commit suicide. Anesthesia is a distant cause that only takes an hour’s life. In my opinion, she should decide.

Asks:
Thank you very much.
Maybe the rabbi didn’t understand, they’re going to slowly increase the dose until it’s fatal.
When I wrote about euthanasia, I used the term “laundered”… they are going to perform euthanasia.

Rabbi:
Is the pain intense or is she just tired? The dosage of what? Poison? Usually these are really anesthetics.

Asks:
No, extremely severe pain, for a long time. These are probably anesthetics, which are going to increase the dose until…

Rabbi:
So as I said.

Asks:
Very well, thank you very much.

Rabbi:
Good news and a happy new year

Asks:
Amen, and yes to Mr.
I was wrong, whoever explained it to me didn’t explain it well.. They’re just going to put her to sleep so she won’t feel pain until the disease takes her..
Thanks anyway..

Rabbi:
That’s what I thought. They don’t do it any other way.
