Taxes VS Charity
Shalom Rabbi Michael
Does anyone today who pays income tax, including standard taxes on paychecks, consider it charity?
After all, some of this money goes to National Insurance, which helps the weak, etc.
Or you could say because the state gave and I don’t it’s not considered a charitable act at all.
thanks
peace

It is that today there is a custom to give 10 grams, which is 3 dirhams of silver, in memory of the half shekel. What is this? Is there a halachic source for this at all or is it just an attempt to extort more money from the common people? I ask without regard to the Rahma who brought the custom of 3 half coins
I would like to know your opinion on the subject and also in general on all the attempts to extort from the common people what they can in order to finance all kinds of “institutions” sometimes questionable or not
Do you see the phenomena in a positive light?
Thank you
Peace
And does the memory of the half shekel have an origin? Just because the Rema writes it doesn't mean there is an origin. How is it different from any other book of our time? These are customs, and customs develop from below. This is not an attempt to extort, and not from the common people. I suggest you stop with this demagogy.
God forbid I doubt the fraudster
I asked about many institutions today that promise all kinds of salvations and blessings and all kinds of virtues and there is no need to prolong it, there are many, many of them. And sometimes they exploit the weakness of people who have already despaired of their situation and put all their trust in it
I was very serious and not a demagogue
The fact that the fraudster brought 3 half coins can be understood as a reference to the half shekel
But the fact that today it suddenly jumped to 10 grams of silver is understandable why it changed
