Tefillin of Rabbeinu Tam
Hello Rabbi
Do you think there is any point in strictly observing the putting on of tefillin by Rabbeinu Tam? The poskim have already written that today this custom has become widespread and they are not concerned about the law (which the author of the Shulchan Arash was concerned about in the matter)
Do you think it is appropriate to be strict about this out of concern that the order is like Rashi’s, or is your opinion the same as the Gra’s, that there is no end to the matter, and that there are all kinds of methods, and if there is a tradition that Rashi’s order is the correct one, that is enough for us?
It’s hard to answer. Of course there is no obligation, but there is room for the argument that the strict one doesn’t do anything stupid. There is such a method and you want to fulfill your obligation according to it as well. The argument that there is no end to it is not an argument. In principle, one can be wary of all methods (like Rabbi Sheinberg regarding tzitzit), and the more the better. There is no obligation, but one can certainly see value in it. Of course, only methods that seem to you to have substance. It is not enough that a certain method appears on a book.
And here the son asks:
How do you get along with both existences? – ‘And if it were heard’ is problematic in terms of the ending ‘That your days and the days of your children may be multiplied on the earth’. How does this fit in with the cessation of divine intervention in our day? ’And if it were brought to you’ is problematic due to the immorality of ‘And if you do not redeem and turn away’ What did the poor donkey sin?
With blessings, you are the most innocent 🙂
