The commandment of writing a Torah scroll

שו”תThe commandment of writing a Torah scroll
asked 5 years ago

peace
There is a mitzvah for everyone to write for themselves (or through a messenger) a Torah scroll.
I wanted to ask if there is any justification for not being so strict with this mitzvah today.
And is it really because it is better to do it yourself and not with a messenger that everyone must or at least should learn to write a Torah scroll and write? After all, just learning to write takes a lot of hours, and then there is the writing itself.
thanks

The first ones wrote that the Jews really go out of their way to buy Tosheva books. The purpose of this is to contribute to Torah study, and writing a Torah book does not contribute to this today in any way.
