The definition of joy
Your Honor can expand the definition of the essence of joy.
Definitionally, what is joy in general (does pleasure belong in joy)?
And what is the obligation on Sukkot to rejoice? Is it still valid to rejoice in meat and wine or in buying jewelry (my wife is not impressed by this)?
First, joy is what is usually defined as joy (and not as a brasker). Simply to rejoice. The poskim wrote that meat and wine are still valid, but when we are not whole, it is quite clear that meat has become a means. And if that doesn’t make you happy, be happy in another way. And the same is certainly true for jewelry. There is no law against buying jewelry out of spite. And if you have found a sane wife and taken her to you, why spoil her?
