The first person

Hello Rabbi
First of all, I wanted to ask how the rabbi perceives the biblical story of Adam and the Garden of Eden?
And assuming you accept it literally (and I would be happy to answer), how long ago did the first man live? And what distinguishes him from the creatures before him (evolutionarily)?
