The groper

asked 5 years ago

A. Why did he commit suicide, since he had violated the Law of the Sea?
on. If his intention was to show that the commandments are valid even though they do not enter the land, why did he go against a prohibition that carries a death penalty? It is enough for him to transgress against those who are guilty of an offense and receive lashes?
third. Why is it not avoided for those who commit a crime for its own sake?
The questions are of course about the methods that desecrate Shabbat for the sake of God.

A. Yes, the Rasha made a difficult point in 2:111, and I never understood his question. After all, this is exactly what the one who was being tried wanted to be killed, and therefore it is clear that the Rabbi did not know that he did this for the sake of a mitzvah because he did not tell them. Therefore, they killed him. It is true that some have made a difficult point that the heavens did know this, and the command to kill him came from heaven (K”sh, ibid., 366). Now I saw references here: https://daf-yomi.com/DYItemDetails.aspx?itemId=39169 B. He wanted to show the substance of the prohibition, and to teach that everything remained in effect, including death penalties. C. Where are all the perpetrators of the crime listed?

Why is it okay here to make the sermon difficult?

מיכי Staff replied 5 years ago

There is no question of a response to the question or the sermon. But certainly if there is no answer, it is not very critical, since a sermon from an agda does not have to meet halachic standards. It is usually assumed that in the Messiah, according to his perfection, the sermon should conform to halachic standards, but in reality this is not absolutely necessary.
