The purpose of the universe

Hi Rabbi,
I read your book “The First Found” and really enjoyed it.
You write there (in the fifth part, I think) that since God created the world, it probably has a purpose.
I agree, but I want to ask: In your opinion, is there any meaning to the rest of the universe other than Earth? Ostensibly, for a purpose related solely to humans and the Earth, it would have been enough to create them and that’s it.
What is the purpose of the rest of this vast universe?
Thank you very much.

I have no idea. Why is this important?

For the megalomania of the sages, who wrote that God created 10 to the power of 18 stars only for the Knesset of Israel [Berachot Lev 1:2].

On the 1st of Omer 5771

No -Shalom Rav,

Rabbi Yitzhak Shilat, during his months of service in the reserves in the period after the Yom Kippur War, wrote a collection of novellas entitled ‘Baurin Dasha’ on the tractate of Blessings, in which, among other things, he expressed his admiration for the closeness of the number of stars counted by the sages, and the number of stars estimated today by scientists.

With greetings, Ş.

Missing Question
Those who ask what the purpose of the universe is usually hiding the other half of the question.
The full version goes something like this:

What is the answer to the question of the purpose of the universe that will both make sense to me and please me?

And anyone who can answer you is a charlatan.

Sh”t.

I admire the folly of Yitzhak Shilat.
