The Science of Freedom Introduction
Hello,
Why does the Rabbi write in the introduction that according to the cogito, the existence of the spirit is more established than the existence of the body? After all, it can be argued that the existence of the thinking person comes by virtue of the body. It is the body that creates the thought. Therefore, there is no evidence of any “spirit” from the cogito.

You can argue whatever you want. But what the cogito shows is that there is someone here who thinks, that is, that the mental exists. Now you can raise all sorts of possibilities as to who this someone is. Does the body create thoughts or not? But there is no indication from the cogito of the existence of a body. Either there is or there is not.

In other words, the cogito is not at all helpful (or adds) to the discussion.
