The speech in Congress

שו”תCategory: generalThe speech in Congress

Hello Rabbi,
This week, Netanyahu is scheduled to fly to Washington and speak to Congress. His mother, among other things, decided to include some of the kidnapped, including Noa Argamani.
In response, some of the families of the kidnapped are asking her not to join him on this flight. In my opinion, this flight can only improve the status of the kidnapped and not harm them (even if it really becomes a political tool of Netanyahu), and in this case, the families who oppose Netanyahu are working here directly due to their opinion of the Prime Minister. What does the rabbi think here? What is the right thing to do, is there a moral issue here? That despite Netanyahu’s cynical game, the kidnapped must appear with him on this delegation.

You assume that there is a cynical game here by Netanyahu. On what basis? According to the information I have, there is no basis for this and it is a false accusation. In my opinion, this is an ugly step by the families of the kidnapped who are exploiting their position for political purposes and falsely accusing Bibi of being the factor preventing the return of the kidnapped. A kind of “irritation” with the State of Israel, which is trying to force very problematic steps on it to return the kidnapped, steps that probably will not help their return. Some of these families were swept away by the protest and anti-Bibiism, and others of them have probably lost their minds due to grief.

What exactly will Bibi gain from Argamani's presence? What personal interest does he have in this? It is about the interest of the State of Israel and an effort to apply pressure to return the kidnapped and allow us to continue fighting to create stronger pressure.
In the meantime, despite my disgust for Bibi and his coalition partners, I take my hat off to him and to Smotrich and Bengavir who are standing like a wall against the ugly and stupid pressures for a deal at any cost and against international pressures. They deserve what they deserve.

Thanks for the answer,
I do believe that this flight really has no malicious intentions, yet I find myself wondering how the incompetent sometimes pull a few tricks out of the hat.

I can accept the claim that the families of the kidnapped were consumed by grief, but I do not accept the claim that the families were swept up in the anti-Bibi movement. Any person who has a child can understand that no matter how much they despise someone or something, they will do anything to bring back a lost child, including licking the shoes of someone they despise. Therefore, when there is a request from the families of the kidnapped not to join the journey, I do not see it as cynical.
