Always at the beginning of winter, the regional scoundrel here drives me crazy to come to the celebration he holds in honor of the day one of their scoundrels enters or leaves prison…
He is a nice man, but believes that his rebbe is still alive. [Unlike the rebbe before him and unlike rebbe from other sects]
How am I supposed to deal with all this weird fun?
And the strange opinions about a certain man who died and is still alive?

There’s no need to comment. I think your description is appropriate for the situation.

I once asked a Chabad emissary what would happen if the Messiah came and he was not their Rebbe? He replied, "Welcome." I don't know if he is a representative case. I feel like they miss him and as the years go by, he fades into the mists of time (I am influenced here by The Lord of the Rings in Ruth Livni's masterful translation). And all that remains is to decide whether to continue to be his emissary or not.
