Threats?
Hello Rabbi,
I heard from one rabbi who said that he heard from Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky that anyone who watches the series “Shababnikim” will develop that disease.
Do you think there is a sense for this or is it just nonsense and anyone who watches this series won’t be harmed by it?
I wouldn’t be afraid of that. But to say it won’t happen is an uninformed statement, just like to say it will. Of course, to the best of my judgment, these are indeed nonsense.
Oh yes, I remember that it was "I was afraid." But in the end I saw it. I really don't understand how you can say things like that. It's just a series. And there are really serious things in such cases that you shouldn't threaten and scare. What good does it do? I personally hope he didn't really say that and that it's just rumors because those are the less beautiful sides of religion. In other words, it's not religion, but its side effects, unfortunately.
Haha. The original rumor comes from a letter written by one of the most important Rams in Bnei Brak
and originally it was written that Ram Chaim told him, "Whoever watches this drama has no part in the next world. Spread the rumor, so that everyone knows that I warned you" (you can search Google for the phrase "Kanievsky in Avnikim" or something like that)
Anyone who has heard Ram Chaim speak knows that this is "exactly his style of speaking"
As reliable as the new news that Uri Geller helped intercept the Iranian drone attack (on a variety of leading news sites right now)
I honestly see things maybe worse, but with the curse of a great rabbi, even just a rumor, even just the fear of a rumor, I don't bother!! And especially since great rabbis are more righteous in their death than in their lives.
Will they ask me after 120 years, “Did you marry and give in faith? Did you watch Shabbenikim?” Nothing will happen to me if I manage not to watch it.. Some people do an ‘ice bath’.. to overcome mentally.. so I don't watch to control my impulses..
