Tithing on a small amount
Hello Rabbi,
Several questions on the same subject:
- Is it obligatory to set aside tithes on mint, sheba, etc.?
- If the answer to the previous question is yes, what happens if you pick a single mint sprig for a cup of tea? Do you excrete a small particle of the leaf?
- Further to this, what am I supposed to do regarding tithing when I pick one lemon from the tree?
- Do I need to pick a large enough amount for the discharge to be more significant?
- What would I do if we really gave the tithe to Levi? Give them a leaf? A slice of lemon?
- Since the fruits are left to rot anyway, is it legitimate/logical to take half-rotten fruit as the part that is excreted?
