Torah and Science
Hello Rabbi,
Following our conversation on WhatsApp, I am attaching an article of mine that was published yesterday, and a question that was sent to me and the answer I gave on the same topic.
I will only emphasize that it is clear to me that the scope of the discussion in both the article and the answer is very limited, due to the limitations of the format.
I would like the Rabbi’s attention to 2 aspects:
1) Content of what is said
2) Is the main message didactically explained in a way that the secular/debating reader manages to understand, or does it at least open up his curiosity for in-depth examination or undermine his confidence in the lies that atheism has sold him to date?
There is of course more material, but that’s for later.

A. Hello.
Hope you are well.
First, I much prefer asking questions through the website (see link below). It makes it easier for me.
As for your words, my response is:
A. A few comments regarding your article:
1. Within the framework of the theories that threaten faith, you omitted evolution. It is actually considered the main threat.
2. You identify Torah with Halacha (factual truth versus halachic truth). But the chapters of Genesis do not deal with Halacha.
3. The explanations of the involvement of an external force are problematic: A. Because they are an excuse (i.e. they allow those who believe not to abandon their faith, but do not convince those who come to the discussion with clean hands). on. Because what you are essentially claiming is that the events of 6,000 years ago did not take place at all. The world was created at some point “in its infancy.” But we know of specific events, including humans and animals, that occurred tens of thousands of years ago or more. Do you think all of these are in the discussion that God planted in the ground for some reason? (To confuse us?) This is unlikely. After all, in every other context we do accept the scientific findings (to determine the age of things for legal and historical purposes, for example).
4. Identifying the words of the Ramban with the Big Bang is an unconvincing argument. It is very far-fetched. There is a completely abstract and superficial proposal there, which does not point to any real information. It is a thesis that comes from an explanation and not a “scientific theory that the Ramban says,” as you put it. In general, assuming that the Ramban or Chazal knew the latest scientific information does not hold water. They have quite a few scientific errors, sometimes even in science that was known in their time.
5. Abiogenesis is “obviously” not accepted by the Torah of Israel? Who revealed this secret to you? Why do you think that God did not create us through abiogenesis?
6. The existence of the mental is explained by materialists in an emergent way. They claim that these are functions of the brain and the material body and not an additional substance. In my opinion, this is also implausible, but there is no argument in your words that explains why.
7. Your summary, and in particular the use of the term “theories of Torah Israel” is an anachronism. Torah Israel does not have scientific theories (that make predictions and stand the test of refutation), and perhaps it also does not have any claims about reality at all. Everything is subject to interpretation, and I do not agree with the view that sees them as alternative theories.
on. As for your answer to the questioner, I tend to agree, but I don’t think there’s any need to go into these calculations. In my book God Plays Dice and in the article that summarizes it, I made it clear that there is proof from the laws that you don’t need these calculations at all:
