In the context of Torah and science and the connection between them
Repentance organizations state that on the eighth day, the body’s ability to heal the bleeding is at its highest during a person’s lifetime.
From this they show that there is scientific knowledge in the Torah.
What do you think about that? Is this statistic even true?
I have no idea.
I'm not a doctor, but from what I've read there's some truth to this. There is an increase in clotting factor levels on the eighth day (due to an increase in vitamin K levels). There is a continued increase until stabilization when the baby is a few months old, but the eighth day is a local maximum.
I haven't checked, but I assume that having a hysterectomy at a few months old is not appropriate in terms of pain level and awareness, so it's possible that the eighth day is optimal even from a scientific perspective.
This is simply not good evidence. Those who don't believe will simply say that they decided on eight days through trial and error. There is no benefit here for either side.
Trial and error of what? Obviously they didn't take thousands of babies and see which of them recovered faster and average them.
The problem with this type of argument is that if the Torah were based on scientific principles, many commandments would have to appear different. For example, there would have to be a commandment about democracy, a prohibition on eating unhealthy foods, and so on. In practice, it clearly appears that the Torah is directed at spiritual principles, not scientific ones.
Hey, what's the problem? You see that babies who are circumcised on the eighth day recover better.
Do babies circumcised at 8 days recover better than those at 7 days?
