What made you repent?
Hello Rabbi,
In the last podcast you published, you said that for you, the Gemara brought you back to repentance and philosophy came later. Can you explain what you mean by the Gemara bringing you back to repentance?
Best regards,
I have written here several times about my impressions/admiration of the Talmud. In my opinion, it is a model text in all sorts of respects, and I feel that it reflects a deep regard for reality and thinking about it. The connection I formed with the Talmud helped me to form an identification with the Torah and Judaism in general.
In short, after all the intellectualism, emotion is what creates the connection.
Absolutely not. Intuition, not emotion. An impression from a text is not an emotion.
Are admiration and feelings intuition?
I know your claim that intuition is a kind of sixth sense, which is essentially an understanding and insight of the mind.
But from what you wrote here, it seems that admiration was an experience accompanied by feelings that left an impression on you.
I don't see anything wrong with it if after a cooling-off period the examination was intellectual, but perhaps it is the Jewish spark that caused the spiritual awakening that the Repentanceists talk about, which also did not pass over the greatest intellectuals of our generation!
