Who rotates relative to whom? Earth VS Sun

שו”תCategory: generalWho rotates relative to whom? Earth VS Sun

Peace be upon you, Rabbi.
I have a claim and I wanted to put it to the test here.
When they “say” that the Earth revolves around the Sun, is that not absolute, right? I mean, it depends on what the reference point is, right?
ZA: Is it also equally true to say that the Sun revolves around the Earth when the reference point is the Earth, and then the model of this phenomenon will have equations that are obviously different than in the previous reference – but with a much more complex complexity. And if this claim is correct, perhaps we can say that the entire universe revolves around the Earth, when the equations of this model have not yet been developed, because they are too complicated?
What I mean to say – is the complexity/simplicity of the model an indicator of the correctness of the model? And if so, I would be happy to see proof or other examples that confirm your claim or hypothesis.
Regards
Moroccan Baba 🙂

There is no question of truth or falsehood. It is indeed just a choice of a system of axes. In physics, there is also Mach’s principle and imaginary forces, but these are matters of dynamics. From a kinematic point of view, there is no truth or falsehood in the question of who revolves around whom. And this is where all the wise men who quote Copernicus as if he discovered something are wrong. He discovered a system within which the description of motion is simpler. That is all. See my article here: https://www.knowingfaith.co.il/%D7%AA%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%94-%D7%95%D7%9E%D7%93%D7%A2/%D7%94%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%A1%D7%9E%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%92%D7%99% D7%94-%D7%94%D7%9E%D7%A7%D7%A8%D7%90%D7%99%D7%AA-%D7%94%D7%90%D7%9D-%D7 %94%D7%A2%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%9D-%D7%94%D7%95%D7%90-%D7%A2%D7%92%D7%95%D7%9C

It is a scientific fact that the Earth revolves around the Sun and not vice versa. The reason is that two bodies that are moving relative to each other revolve around their common center of mass. The mass of the Sun is hundreds of thousands of times greater than that of the Earth, and therefore the center of mass of the Earth and the Sun is inside the Sun (!) The meaning of this in physics is that the Sun is stationary relative to the Earth, meaning the Earth revolves around the Sun.

As a physicist, you show an impressive lack of understanding. Although, the determination that accompanies it is also very impressive. The center of mass is just another system of axes, no different from any other system.
Furthermore, when talking about the Copernicus system of axes, he did not say that the Earth and the Sun revolve around a common center of mass (this was long before they solved the two-body problem). He said that the Earth and the other planets revolve around the center of the Sun. And that is what is meant even today.
Long live science!

I didn't understand
If there is only the Earth and the Sun, can't you see who is orbiting who?

פלוני replied 10 months ago

That is, either the sun revolves
around the earth
or the earth revolves around itself
Now it is also impossible to see
one is right and one is wrong
What did I miss here

To someone
No. It simply means that there is a relative rotational motion between them and that's it. Just like in straight line motion, we talk about relative motion between two bodies at a certain speed. You can decide which one is moving and which is standing still or whether both of them are moving as one. The main thing is that the relative speed between them be the same speed
