Why are atheists so reluctant to philosophy?
Hello Rabbi,
I watched a bit of teen atheism forums.
And I have no explanation for why they are so reluctant to engage in any philosophical discussion.
After all, science is also built on philosophical principles.
For example, as soon as you talk to them a little about philosophy, they immediately ask questions.
Does it make sense to have a lot of animals on hand?
Does it make sense that time is relative?
It has been proven that all logic is nonsense.
etc. etc….
Maybe the rabbi can enlighten me on this point.

It’s not just among the youth. Most of the public is wary of philosophy, and especially of scientists. A widespread feeling is that science is solid and philosophy is shaky (word grinder). People are unaware that science is also built on philosophical assumptions and also refines philosophical justifications. It is possible that the youth tend to be enthusiastic about science, and perhaps as they grow older there is a chance to get out of it. By the way, there are quite a few philosophers who really give philosophy a bad name, and create this feeling.
