Why didn’t King Solomon produce autonomous cars?
Hello, Your Honor, and have a good week!
In the fall of 2017, a conference was held in Jerusalem for thousands of seminary girls to warn against the danger of academia. Rabbis and Jewish luminaries spoke there, including the great Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, shlita, a member of the Council of Torah luminaries (son-in-law of the Rabbi Elyashiv and brother-in-law of the Rabbi Kanievsky).
Here is a quote from his words: “In the seventh chapter of Tractate Gittin, there are two pages in the Gemara that say, ‘There are no cures.'” The Maharsha says, “If a person understands what is written there, there will be no illness that he cannot cure.”
I was at the Western Wall, there was an engineer there and he talked about the weight of the stones, how did they know how to raise it to that height without cranes?
It is written in the verse of Ecclesiastes, “I made for myself singers and singers, a chest of drawers and chests of drawers,” which are ornamental carriages. The question is asked, is this what King Solomon is needed for? Every cart owner knows how to do it. Our Rabbi, the living son of Ish Chai, excuses himself, every chest of drawers was like a ship. Where is it today? He humbled them because he feared road accidents. He knew how to repair cars, he knew how to find a lever, and everything is from the Torah.”
From Rabbi Zilberstein’s words, I understand that King Solomon, in his immense wisdom, knew all the wisdom, and necessarily also knew how to produce everything that is produced today, such as cars. The only reason he did not discover this wisdom and enable cars to be mass-produced was because he understood the destructive consequences of modern transportation, and wanted to prevent road accidents.
The obvious question is why Shlomo did not discover the secret of autonomous cars. In doing so, he would have allowed his generation and future generations a comfortable and pleasant ride that is also safe and secure. In doing so, he would have also saved tens of thousands and millions from fatal car accidents throughout history.
I would be very happy if you could enlighten me as to why our King Solomon did not reach this solution.
