Why do people perceive religious people as irrational?
Hello, in the last podcast you said that you haven’t thought through in a systematic way why people mistakenly think that secular is rational and religious is irrational, even though the truth is the opposite. I’ve thought about it, and it seems to me that one reason is that non-halakhic rabbinical rabbinic teachings sometimes create the impression that all of religion is based on pure speculation.

In my opinion, religious people are indeed more inclined to believe in irrational things, and some even put this on the table (leap of faith, going beyond reason, etc.), so the image is correct. What is not true is that rational and matter-of-fact thinking leads to secularism. Here the opposite is true.
