Work for its own sake

Apparently, in the Torah itself, there is no mention of working for the sake of God, but rather a mention of loving God. And I did see that you once interpreted love as meaning for the sake of God, but this is a greater push, and it seems that God wants us to work out of our love for Him, and this in itself is considered for the sake of God, meaning that good is good because it is through love. And also in the matter where you mention Judaism as a commitment to the law, apparently, one needs to add a commitment to the law, since we came into a covenant with God, and commitment alone is not enough.

There is a difference between the commandment to love God and to work out of love. In the Basic Torah, Maimonides deals with love for God, while in the Teshua, Maimonides speaks of work out of love. And indeed, in Maimonides, he defines work out of love as doing the truth because it is the truth. Commitment to the law is, of course, a commitment to it as God’s word. I have written more than once that a commitment to the Ahad Ha’am text is worth nothing in the religious sense.
