Zionist? Relevant?

שו”תCategory: generalZionist? Relevant?

What is the concept of Zionism today? I think that over time the concept of Zionism is no longer so relevant, there is not much of a way to realize it and this definition becomes hollow.. To enlist in the army? (Apart from going to the army, what else is left? Hillel on Independence Day? It’s quite a joke that you would be considered a Zionist because of that.. I just feel that we are fighting today over the definition that, after all, except for the ultra-Orthodox, everyone is the same, and disputes about the ways to secure the state (giving up territories, etc.) are no longer on the table for debate. And the debates and most of the wars today are related to religion and attitudes towards Arabs (which in relation to Arabs is a kind of paradox between attitude and fear that there is no way out of it) but it is not really related to Zionism, the question is whether today someone who defines himself as a Zionist (religious Zionist) is it really true that he is part of it..

I didn’t see a defined question here. But you’re absolutely right that this definition is neither important nor sharp.

Does being a Zionist today have any other implications besides the army (which is also not that related to Zionism)?

Not really.

It's interesting how many of the definitions we attribute to ourselves are drawn from concepts that are irrelevant and don't really define who we are. I think it's because there's not much to fight for today except for very obvious things like (climate, animals, which are more global things).
Naturally, the next step is a return to community, people will realize that they're not really part of... and will look for something more real (and also because there's too much free time, more than before, so it will also permeate the importance of continuous connections and being part of something real, tangible)
