Unrealistic cases in the Sages

שו”תCategory: Talmudic studyUnrealistic cases in the Sages

Hello Rabbi,
How should we treat unrealistic cases and things that do not fit with the logic found in the Sages?
I don’t think there’s much need for an example, but let’s say a wild boar that sank 60 volumes and broke 300 cedars.
Thank you very much!

I suppose these are parables that are meant to convey some other message. I have no business with fairy tales because to me they are worthless.

You should know that things that are the opposite of reason also happen
For example
A nation that is supposed to be a light to the nations is accused of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, and as expected, it leads to disasters.
And the rabbis? They are actually partners in the conspiracy. And they want to continue the decline…
At least some of them.

If I had told you something like this 10 years ago, you would have laughed at me
Now reality is laughing at both of us.

You are asking about 1700 years ago, what did they write about traditions and stories that they had about several hundred thousand years before?

Not sure this is such a difficult question
You assume that it didn't happen and therefore ask.
Maybe it did?

Can we understand what exactly is meant by "worthless"? When we come to the Aggadatha passages in the Gemara, to skip?

מיכי Staff replied 2 years ago

There are no instructions here. I wrote my opinion and what I do. Indeed, I usually skip.

Why skip?
The rabbi also combines Torah and legend, for example, the last column combines a film [legend] with halacha?
Is it true that the rabbi holds that there is value in legend but the legends of Chazal are no longer effective?

What is the meaning of this question? I was dealing with a case that appeared in a film. Does that mean there is value in fairy tales or films? We can use anything as a basis for discussion. The question is, do we learn anything new from such a source?
