abortion

שו”תCategory: Halachaabortion
asked 2 years ago

My friend is an ultra-Orthodox girl…she met a secular guy. On the one hand, she is very much in love with religion…and on the other hand, she is very much in love with the guy. She is in a difficult dilemma whether to leave religion for the guy’s sake or to stay in religion. Right now, she is in a situation where she is keeping everything except the relationship with the guy. She recently got pregnant. And if she continues the pregnancy, she will leave religion. She asked if she is allowed to have an abortion so as not to leave religion.

There is no permission to have an abortion for non-medical reasons. The consequences are a matter that must be dealt with separately. I suppose it will be difficult with the family, but there is still no permission to kill the fetus because of it. It’s a shame she didn’t think about it beforehand. There are mixed couples of religious and secular or vice versa, and they can perhaps try to marry and live together with mutual consideration.

Maybe in the first 40 days of pregnancy it can be easier
Like Eliezer and others
There is an important question here of human dignity and more?

I have written more than once that in my opinion the main problem with abortion is moral and not halakhic.
