Delighting in the Presence of God
The Ramchal in Miselat Yesharim says that the purpose of a person’s life is devotion to God in the next world. He explains that devotion is achieved by devotion to God in this world.
How is it that by keeping the commandments one delights in God in the world to come? How is it that these actions and thoughts lead to this?
Good question. I have no idea. “Then delight in the Lord.” There are sources from the Sages, but the question just goes to them: How did they know? There are verses that the commandments bring us life (and you chose life), but the meaning of that life, is it devotion to the Lord (what is devotion to the Lord anyway?), I have no idea.
