Hello Rabbi,
Amit Segal wrote a post today, in which he compares the media’s treatment of protesters who blocked roads because of the constitutional revolution, with the treatment of Beitar fans who took to the stands last night. He claims that some members of the media acted hypocritically, because while they applauded the protesters, they condemned those who took to the field. In other words, according to him, both teams are lawbreakers and both deserve the same treatment.
I think the comparison is ridiculous, my friends think differently.
I would love to know what you think about this.

I don’t know either case. I understand that your question is whether the justification for the riot can affect the response to it. In other words, in Beitar Jerusalem, these are just savages, and in the demonstrations against the reform, it is an ideological demonstration and out of genuine distress (even if you don’t agree with it). I think the police are supposed to take care of order, and therefore they shouldn’t make such a consideration. In court, there is definitely room to consider motives for mitigating the sentence. The media also judges actions according to their value, so there is definitely room to consider motives there too.
