Big thanks for the lecture at Cafe Luda, great concept

The rabbi distinguished there between negative and satirical pluralism, and positive harmonism. As an example of positive harmonism, he cited the Rambam’s parable of the elephant.
I asked – when one of the elephant watchers claims that there is no elephant at all, is this also similar to positive harmonism?

For some reason I think I answered that. I’ll answer briefly again. Pluralism is not negative but wrong. Harmonism is not positive but it is the truth. It is a question of right and wrong and not of good and bad. If one of the observers claims that there is no elephant, he is probably wrong. Although there is still room to ask why he thinks so? Perhaps from his angle he does not see the elephant or he defines an elephant differently.

OK
Is there any claim in the parable of the elephant that could be considered pluralistic and wrong?

מיכי Staff replied 2 years ago

Yes. That the elephant was not found, as I wrote. We can examine his arguments, but he is clearly wrong.

Regarding the chocolate example, why do you say that no one is wrong in this case?
It is true that both arguments are correct, but perhaps there will only be one truth regarding their equivalence? If one says that healthy is better than beautiful is right, that means that the one who says beautiful is better than healthy is wrong.
No?

Sure. I explained it there. In a balance, it is certainly possible that only one is right.
