Study beyond the compulsory subjects
To Rabbi Michael, greetings.
I recently saw on the website (although I haven’t been able to find it again now) a curriculum that you built for Midrash Noam years ago.
I’m a high school student (starting eighth grade), and I was very interested in the idea. I’ve already finished most of the compulsory subjects and majors, so I have a lot of free time, and I don’t want to waste it. Although your model included much more than the compulsory subjects. I assume you don’t remember after so many years (I myself forgot after a few weeks) – but I would appreciate your feedback: What is advisable to study, and is it possible to study in one year independently? Mathematics, logic, general philosophy, academic mathematics, chemistry, general literature, Talmud, biblical studies, linguistics, psychology… I’m not asking for a structured curriculum (it’s clear to me that this is not practical), but I would be happy to have areas of study or skills that you think are important.
If it matters – my majors are physics, biology, chemistry, and Arabic; and my areas of interest are both real and humanities.
(I saw a similar question in the Responsa that you answered with good taste and knowledge – and it was helpful to me – but it only concerned religious studies. I am asking in general terms.)
Thank you in advance, and in general for all your blessed deeds.
