Hamas, Netanyahu and Hypocrisy

שו"תHamas, Netanyahu and Hypocrisy
שאל לפני 2 שנים

Good evening!
I saw in the news studios the other day that some were accusing Bibi of negligence, both because Hamas thought it would be easy to attack because of the division he had sown, and because he had not wanted to topple the Hamas government for years.
Isn't this hypocrisy and an interpretive lie? After all:
A. The division in the country stemmed from a mutual dispute that erupted. Each side contributed its share.
B. There is no connection between the failure in intelligence and the conduct of the army, and the decision (even if it was wrong) to contain Hamas. In other words, it is possible that this policy was justified, and that it was a failure (after all, no one, certainly not Bibi, ever thought that Hamas did not want to destroy Israel. It was just a political decision to deal with Gaza).
C. What bothers me most is the hypocrisy of those who are now claiming this. The same commentators have argued over the years that Hamas should be contained and that this is the correct policy (because they argued that it is not worth occupying Gaza, etc.), and now they themselves are accusing Bibi of this.
Moreover, the security establishment has supported this policy over the years, and even a commentator like Abramovich has repeatedly attacked people like Ben Gvir, claiming that their rant to bring down Hamas is destructive, and now he claims in the studios that Bibi was wrong.
Isn't there hypocrisy and demagogy here that should be condemned?

A. The question is who caused the split, not who is taking part in it. According to your logic, Israel is to blame for what is happening now, because it is also fighting against Hamas, and not just Hamas against it. B. A decision that turned out to be wrong is not necessarily an omission. The question is whether it could have been foreseen. Those who claim that there was an omission here probably assume that it was a problematic step from the start. C. There is definitely something to this. And yet Bibi is a prime minister and not a journalist, and when he says in a speech that we always knew who Hamas was and now it has become clear to the whole world, it is certainly appropriate to remind him who built Hamas and who supports it.
