Chanukah for two or more

Are there two who lit one menorah, one on the right side of the menorah and the other on the left? This refers mainly to the first four days of Hanukkah, when half of the menorah is essentially unnecessary.
And did eight people who lit one menorah, each one a candle, go out (on the first day, but also on the other days, since they go out with one candle).
