Q&A: The Sadducees?
The Sadducees?
Question
“And the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister to Me…”
Could it really be that דווקא those who disagreed with the Sages—the Sadducees—are the ones who in the future will “come near to Me to minister to Me,” while all the other priests are disqualified?
On the face of it, that is what it says in Ezekiel.
According to the interpretation of Dr. Geiger and Professor Rachel Azaria.
Or perhaps it is דווקא the descendants of the sons of Zadok who did accept the Sages and their interpretation, like Rabbi HaNazir?
Answer
I don’t deal with the Bible. Let others answer here if they wish.
