Numbers? They are different aspects of reality and of the divine manifestation within it. Some interpret this as an actual reality—that there are sefirot in the spiritual worlds—and some see it as a metaphor or a coordinate system within which the world and God’s manifestation within it are described.
The different lights take on different meanings through the vessels in which and through which they appear. That is how different sefirot are formed from the same infinite light.
