Q&A: A Clarification Question
A Clarification Question
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I’m unable to comment, and perhaps also to see other people’s comments, on the question pages of "Further Clear Faith."
Is there a technical problem with those pages?
Answer
It seems to me that it isn’t possible before I post a first reply. And it’s not by accident that I didn’t reply. Forgive me, but as far as I’m concerned the discussion has been exhausted to the last drop.
Discussion on Answer
Hello Anonymous.
I’m always happy to learn and draw conclusions, and I hope I’m honest enough to admit mistakes if there are any.
But I can’t work like this. You pose riddles to me and I answer, and you don’t respond, and then you open another thread on the same topic, and another one (I long ago lost track of how many there were), all at random intervals that don’t allow me to keep it all in my head. You have to take into account that I have dozens and even hundreds of simultaneous study-partners here, on top of the other things I do. So if you want to discuss some topic, I’d be happy to, but you need to be a bit considerate of me.
Since I really am curious to see what you might be able to show me that I haven’t thought of, I’ll now go back to that abandoned thread, Further Clear Faith, and answer there. Don’t assume I remember anything from all the previous exchanges. If you want to continue the discussion, please write briefly and in a focused way, not in many stages and at length, and try to keep the time gaps as small as possible. Otherwise I lose track of you and won’t be able to continue.
See you there.
How have you exhausted the discussion, when I wrote to you that it had only just begun? At stage one, we reached the conclusion that the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) is the book of the Creator’s messages (that part is settled).
At stage two, we reached the conclusion that the messages are divided into factual messages and normative messages (you neither confirmed nor rejected this).
At stage three, we reached the conclusion that there are spiritual messages (metaphysical factual messages and predictions of the future), and not only historical factual messages (you neither confirmed nor rejected this).
There are still more logical stages through which I’ll be able to show that the traditional positions of the Sages are the most logical positions for someone who truly wants to know the Creator’s messages.
My impression of you was that you desire truth wherever it leads and are not fixed on certain positions (even if you identify with them), so you ought to welcome a discussion like this, which may lead you to clarify the truth further and bring you closer to the Creator’s will than you are now.
