They discuss there the question of whether it is permissible to lie in miracle stories. What do you think? What’s written there sounds crazy to me.
Answer
What’s the problem? They made up a story about Rabbi Elyashiv in order to strengthen us in faith. And as is well known, the Jerusalem preacher, Rabbi Sholom Schwadron, once said in the name of the Chazon Ish that it is permissible to say something of your own in the name of a great person so that people will accept it from him rather than from you (this is in the Talmud and in Magen Avraham, sec. 151). And he added: about this too, I won’t tell you whether the Chazon Ish really said it.
In my opinion, it is forbidden to lie, and falsehood does not stand. Certainly one should not bring people to faith this way, because it does not bring them to faith but to superstition. I did not read what they wrote there.
