Q&A: A Question for the Rabbi Regarding Hasidic Thought
A Question for the Rabbi Regarding Hasidic Thought
Question
Hello Rabbi, I understand that you are very hesitant about Hasidic thought. If you could please explain why, exactly? And another related question, about divine involvement in the world: from what I understood, you are hesitant about this mainly because we do not see or feel that the Holy One, blessed be He, intervenes in the world, and from that it can be assumed that He does not intervene. But I ask: so what if we do not see / do not feel / do not understand? That does not necessarily mean that the Holy One, blessed be He, is not involved in our lives, and even in everyday life itself… especially since it is known that randomness exists in nature, through which the Holy One, blessed be He, could intervene without our being able to see it as a change in a law of nature. What do you think?
Answer
I have explained these things more than once here on the site. You can search for 'divine involvement in the world,' and likewise regarding my attitude toward Hasidism.
